Can SKLZ Hopz Really Increase Your Vertical?
SKLZ Hopz is a resistance band training system designed to strengthen the lower body and increase your vertical. The product comes with a belt you wrap around your waist, 2 ankle wraps, and 4 bands. The product is recommended for athletes that are 5 foot 4 inches to 6 foot 2 inches tall. So if you are taller than 6 foot 2 you will not be able to use these.
The product comes with an adjustable belt, ankle straps and 4 bands that provide resistance of up to 40 pounds. It comes with a nice nylon bag which makes it easy to pack for workouts at home or on the go.
Through my SKLZ Hopz review I found that this product can be used not only for vertical jump training but also for other sport specific workouts. It comes with a training guide with a set of workouts however they are not very specific and it leaves it up to you to figure out a training routine. I also found that people complained about the quality of the product. Some people complained about the bands snapping and hitting the back of their legs and the entire system being uncomfortable.
So What Do You Recommend?
I was not able to find any studies that provided concrete evidence of SKLZ Hopz actually increasing your vertical. I also see an issue with the quality of material and it being uncomfortable to workout with. I also do not like the fact that they do not provide a strict workout regimen and leave a lot of it up to you to figure out. If you're 6 foot 3 or taller then this product wouldn't even work for you. So maybe you're 6 foot 5 and you want to train to do 360 and windmill dunks well so sorry it won't fit you.
At the end of the day, I do see how the SKLZ Hopz resistance band training can increase your vertical over time but do you want to have to wear an uncomfortable system and have it potentially break? I didn't think so. You also have the possibility of losing it or having it stolen.
