National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education
Exemplary Program Recognition

October 2002

The NEVAC Consortium (Bellevue, Edmonds, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview, Shoreline, and Snoqualmie Valley School Districts) created and continues to develop the High Tech Learning Centers within their area high schools. The HTLCs deliver state-of-the-art Information Technology education to high school students that lead to industry certification and/or accelerated placement in higher education. In May of 2002 a NEVAC committee compiled an entire notebook on the HTLC that was submitted in application for the Exemplary Program Award. The National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education has selected the NEVAC High Tech Learning Centers from 170 nominations as one of seven candidates for national recognition as an Exemplary Career and Technical Education Program.

The Exemplary Program Review Committee will be scheduling visitations with each of the seven sites. Upon completing the visitations, the committee will make their final recommendation for the Exemplary Program Awards. Winners of this distinction will be recognized at the National Association of Career and Technical Education conference to be held in Las Vegas this December. We are confident that our HTLCs will be among those chosen for this honor.
